CLIENT FIREWALL

When you connect your private network to the Internet, you are physically connecting your network to well over 50,000 unknown networks and all of their users. While such connections open the door to many useful applications and provide great opportunities for information sharing, most private networks contain some information that should not be shared with outside users on the Internet.

When protecting your information from the attacks, your concern is preventing the theft, destruction, corruption, and introduction of information. Thus, as a network administrator, you are constantly trying to keep abreast of the wide number of security issues confronting you in today's world.

A client firewall is for protecting your computer from intrusion (scanning or attack) by hackers or script kiddies while it is connected to the Internet. It would offer clearly explained configuration options, would hide all ports to make your PC invisible to scans, would protect your system from all attacks, would track all potential and actual threats, would immediately alert you to serious attacks, and would ensure nothing unauthorized entered or left your PC.

If you want to install a client firewall to your computer, you can download from Bogazici University's licensed software, Symantec Client Firewall, from "license" server.
